THE SENTRICON SYSTEM
Better Bait Means Better Termite Management Orangeburg, SC —
1/21/2024 — To effectively eliminate termites, offering them a bait they prefer over wood is essential, explains Ralph Fauling, CEO of Gressette Pest Management. “The Sentricon System allows us to do just that. It’s remarkable how much termites are attracted to this bait,” Fauling says. “Discovering something that termites favor over wood is a significant win for our clients.”
In comparative tests, termites showed a preference for the novel bait used in the Sentricon® System with Always Active™ technology 14 times more than wood. Additionally, termites increasingly favor the bait as it ages, cracks, and becomes moldy.
This bait is utilized within the Sentricon System stations that surround a property’s perimeter. Termites find the bait, consume it, and transport its slow-acting ingredients back to their colony. The active ingredient, noviflumuron, interrupts the termites’ molting process, effectively eliminating the entire colony.
Traditional termite management methods typically involve creating a chemical barrier around the property. However, the more effective approach is to completely eradicate the termite problem using a baiting system. The Sentricon System, administered by a trained Certified Sentricon Specialist®, employs “worker” termites to transfer the bait to the colony, thereby eliminating the entire colony, including the queen capable of producing millions of termites over her lifespan. Sentricon System stations are strategically placed and contain enough bait to tackle multiple termite colonies.
Sentricon System stations are maintained at least once a year, with any significantly consumed bait devices replaced against several subterranean termite species.
“Our research has conclusively shown that the Sentricon System with Always Active technology eradicates entire termite colonies,” states Joe DeMark, a researcher with Dow AgroSciences. This effectiveness has been confirmed through university studies and practical applications on homes across various regions and against several subterranean termite species.
